MTS Successfully Integrated AI Machine Learning with Chemical Data Analysis and LIMS system

We are pleased to announce that our project “GC/MS data handling by Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning (AI-ML) – Enhancement Project by adding Headspace and LIMS integration” has been recognized and is now funded by the ‘Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government’ under the Technology Voucher
Programme (TVP).

To address the growing concern about the use of hazardous chemicals in consumer products, MTS believed that it was increasingly necessary for the supply chain and retailers to test hundreds of restricted chemicals in an efficient and cost-effective manner to comply with the evolving global chemical regulations.

On July 22, 2019, Modern Testing Services (Global) Ltd. (“MTS”) and Virtual Control Ltd. (“VC”), an expert in AI and Machine Learning software, launched a project to explore and develop innovative solutions with the aim of integrating machine learning into a testing lab environment to replace manual integration during chemical data analysis with high accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. VC’s platform is a fully auditable, holistic, AI-assisted system, that seamlessly integrates with existing operations and machines, such as the GC/MS screening data analysis, and went live in February 2020.

In May 2020, after several trials, MTS and VC successfully integrated the output data from ACIES and the Laboratory Information Management System (“LIMS”). This integration accelerated the process of chemical data analysis by 25%, with integration accuracy close to 100%. It also improved the consistency of test results by eliminating variability in results caused by human interpretation. In addition, the platform has been optimized for the LIMS system, enabling automated report processing so that our customers receive accurate test reports much faster.

The Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government and Modern Testing Services believe that this new technological solution will improve productivity, upgrade and transform the TIC industry and businesses in the consumer product industry.
